The OTST conference series was founded in 2005 at a time when the terahertz community was beginning a period of rapid growth and activity. The aim is to provide a venue for researchers using optical techniques to access the terahertz spectral range. It is held in March or April, every other year. However, the forthcoming conference has been postponed to 2022 because of the worldwide travel restrictions, thereby breaking the two-year periodicity. It features both invited and contributed presentations from researchers worldwide, highlighting the latest results in generation, detection, spectroscopy, imaging, and applications of terahertz science. The vision for the conference is to remain relatively small conference, to promote discussion and allow scientists at all stages of their careers to connect and collaborate in collegial atmosphere.

The 9th International Conference on Optical Terahertz Science and Technology (OTST 2022) follows the previous eight conferences held six times in the USA, once in Japan, and once in the UK, Europe. In 2022, the conference will be held in Europe for the second time. More details on the previous conferences can be found in the home page for the Optical Terahertz Science and Technology conference series.
